10 Best Places to Visit in the Philippines

By this time, it’s absolutely no secret that the Philippines indeed is a paradise all on its own. With a glittering count of 7,641 islands (2019), our mother country sure has its own share of beautiful places any individual would fancy to admire and take a trip to just to quench their thirst for wanderlust. After reading the following list of tourist spots in the Philippines that you need to visit right about now, you’ll definitely have one conclusion in mind: The Philippines seriously has so much to offer.

1. Boracay Island

The Boracay Island obviously cannot be missed in this list, it’s a no-brainer. Within this tiny island lies the White Beach; one of the most popular beaches, Puka Shell Beach, the best place to go to for shell-collecting, Cagban Beach, if you specifically are into quiet places perfect for soul-searching, Diniwid Beach if you would like to see the best view of the island; and other beaches alike. This mini island is known for its many resorts, and just the perfect spot if you love some good sun bathing.


2. Camiguin

Here’s one for the nature-lovers. It’s got green jungles for you to explore, white sand beaches to dive in, waterfalls to admire, volcanoes to hike, food to enjoy, and so much more. Some of the many things you can do in Camiguin Island, which is just off the coast of Bohol, is visit the Ardent Hot Springs, an oasis in the middle of a jungle worth a visit; see the Tuasan Falls, which is the most popular waterfall destination on the island, or hike at Mt. Vulcan. There are water parks and so much free diving you can do, too.

3. Calaguas Island, Camarines Norte

Known for its extraordinary beauty that is agreeably comparable to Boracay Island, Calaguas Island is was once a hidden paradise to a very few travelers. The Island’s MahabangBuhangin has white fine sand which is closest to that of Boracay. The beach stretches to 3 kilometers of pristine water and satisfactory sand you can take a quiet walk at. And because it is less-known to many people, it isn’t as crowded thus offering a truly peaceful stay.

4. Batanes, Island

Located right in the middle of Luzon and 190 kilometers south of Taiwan and with its beauty of raw nature, it is almost not surprising that Batanes has had its fair share of intrusions by the Spaniards, Americans, and the Japanese back in the day. Visit the Basco Lighthouse, Japanese Tunnel, Basco Cathedral and other historical places the island beholds. Also, the experience in here isn’t complete without having to try Batanes’ food specialties: Flying Fish and Coconut Crab.

5. Sagada

Setting the beach hotspots aside, getting the full experience in the Philippines means exploring not just the blue waters but the greens, too—and Sagada is just the perfect place for that. First of all, it’s fairly affordable. Maximize the backpacking experience and find reasonable-priced accommodation around the place; after all, anyone’s ideal vacation prioritizes inexpensive yet enjoyable experience. In Sagada, you’ll find the Sugong Hanging Coffins which is quite the most popular tourist spot in the area. According to the locals living around the place, this burial ritual is apparently still ongoing wherein they perch coffins high up stones and cliff—you wouldn’t want to miss that, would you?

6. Bohol

You’ve heard of it and you’ve probably read about it in history class way back. You name it, on its land stand proud the scrumptious Chocolate Hills and the tourist spot is popularly known as the home of the Tarsier. But what is underrated about the place is the Mahogany Forest that contains a beautiful two-kilometer stretch of mahogany trees that surround the sloping ground leading to Bilar—purely man-made. Take a drive or stroll around the place, it provides the full experience of nature.

7. Vigan

For the record, Viganis the capital city of Ilocos Sur and is now among the new 7 wonder cities of the world, making it a must-see destination in the country. Aside from taking a walk along the very Instagram-esqueCrisologo street (you’ve probably seen several shots on social media, it’s a beautiful stretch), take time to also see the Crisologo museum with its century-old structure which used to be the home of the Crisologos, a prominent political family in Vegan. Or even learn history in Syquia Mansion, and watch the captivating dancing fountain at Plaza Salcedo; and many more. Complete the thrill by exploring the city in Kalesa—now that’s very Filipino.

8. Baguio

The hype around the city says it all—it’s beautiful, popular, and pretty much affordable. Getting to the city by the means of commuting isn’t a problem as it’s accessible through buses. In Baguio, you may enjoy seeing the sights around Camp John Hay, which offers a plentiful view of thick pine trees. The famous La Trinidad Strawberry Farm can be found here, too, and the strawberries are undeniably delicious. The Bell Church is a satisfying sight also as well as the Mines View Park and the Botanical Garden. Seriously, there’s a lot to do around here. Plus, the cold weather makes the place cozy.



9. Samal

Going back to the wonderful waterworks in the country, Samal has it, too. The views are amazing, and the locals are warm and welcoming. Maximize the snorkeling experience at Kaputian beach, where the waters are super clear providing an easy view of the fishes, corals, and even starfishes. Island hopping is popular among the tourists, too—perfect for watching the sunset with your loved ones, or even just on your own.

10. Manila

Last but definitely not the least, you definitely cannot miss the country’s capital—Manila. Aside from the admittedly breath-taking view of the city (especially at night), it’s got its fair share of history, too. Travel back in time and walk along the streets of Intramuros, which was originally built by our ancestors as defense from foreign invasions at the time. You may also visit Fort Santiago and learn about our national hero, Jose Rizal at the Rizal Shrine. Wrap the experience up by visiting the National Museum—it’s now free of entrance, be sure to take advantage of that!
